(Entering Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th grade in fall 2010)
Earth Explorers
Constantly changing, our earth is altered by water, wind, and the sun. Join us to explore the natural forces that shape our dynamic planet and make life on Earth possible. Aspiring geoscientists will experiment with gases, examine earthquakes, play with rainbows, investigate waves, and build a hot air balloon. 3rd-4th grade campers will go on on a field trip as part of this camp.
Gadgets and Gizmos
Whizz! Bang! Splat! Design and construct a catapult, create and assemble a marble roller coaster, and devise and develop a magnetic-levitating car! Explore electricity, find out about flight, and build some high-motion machines. This camp is all about experimentation and the discovery of how things work and why sometimes they don't. If your child likes contraptions, gadgets and gizmos, this is the camp for them.
Junior Keepers
Why are some animals furry and others feathered? How does a snake smell or a a falcon fly? What makes a marsh mucky and who lives in the mud? Enjoy getting a closer look at animals in the museum and outside. We'll explore local habitats and go behind the scenes to learn how our wildlife keepers care for the animals at the museum. Grab your boots and binoculars and uncover the wonders of wildlife!
Art Adventures
The shimmer of a hummingbird, the shaggy bark of a redwood, the rippling waves on the Bay - the beauty and diversity of the natural world inspire artists. In this camp, we'll look at nature through the eyes of an artist. We'll explore colors, patterns, and textures in nature and use what we see, hear, and feel to inspire original artwork. Each day campers will create their own works of art using different media, natural materials, and inspiration from Coyote Point Recreation Area's beautiful location. Don't miss the exhibition of campers' art at the end of each camp session.
