Museum Facilities
Environmental Hall
Take an imaginary walk from the mountains to the shore, exploring the six ecosystems found in the San Francisco Bay Area: Redwood Forest, Oak Forest, Grasslands, Chaparral, Baylands and Coast. Museum educators have put together a fun scavenger hunt to aid in your discovery.
Wildlife Habitats
View up-close over 50 non-releasable animals native to California, including a bobcat, river otters, rattlesnake and golden eagles. Regularly scheduled feedings for the Channel Island Fox (11:30am) and the River Otters (12:30pm) take place Tuesday through Sunday.
Gardens
Explore themed gardens which encompass 1.3 acres including a Hummingbird Garden, Butterfly Habitat and Nature's Marketplace Garden, featuring native plants used by Native Californians.
Aviary
Experience a serene walk-through park with a waterfall and pond where several indigenous shorebirds and songbirds make their home.
Picnic Area
Your group can enjoy their snack or lunch in our Picnic Area (a designated food friendly area), nestled in the middle of our gardens. Picnic Areas are also located near the Museum in Coyote Point Recreation Area Park. Groups of 50 or more may reserve a group site by calling County Park Reservations at (650) 363-4021.
Museum Store
The Museum store has many items that you can use in your classroom, be a keepsake for a student, or even a holiday gift. Shop at the store for affordable and enticing educational resources for home or school.
